Hadoop and Big Data Workshop 17-19 July’2014

17, 18 and 19 July 2014 TSDC organized a 3-day workshop on Hadoop and Big-data learning for its MCA, CS and IT final year students.

The workshop was being delivered by Mr. Kiran Tankala, a Successful Entrepreneur and CEO of Adaptive Learning Education by the name iMasteryLabs.

 He has corporate working experience of 13 years and has his company offices are at California, Chennai and start-up at Indore. Holds pioneering 8 years experience in Data science, Big Data Platforms and Technologies. His educational and corporate experience is as follows-

The entire workshop was a big success with over 200 participants in the first day orientation session at MBA auditorium and more than 80% students per batch attended the lab sessions in the following two days.

What Mr. Kiran covered on the first day was a brief from his participation in the “Strata Conference + Hadoop World: Tools And Techniques that make Data work”, held at New-York- 2014. In his presentation he showed various videos from the International conference and one unique among them was the video of “Mr. Doug Cutting” who is the founder of numerous successful open source projects, including Lucene, Nutch, Avro, and Hadoop itself. Doug joined Cloudera in 2009 from Yahoo!, where he was a key member of the team that built and deployed a production Hadoop storage and analysis cluster for mission-critical business analytics.

Mr. Kiran’s entire presentation was a new horizon to Acropolians as under his first day presentation, topic, “Beautiful Data”, he spoke over:-

And finally he had an interactive question-answer session with students.

In the following two days he conducted hands-on with final year students over Map-Reduce Job covering the Hadoop Ecosystem and Map Reduce basics at the ISRO lab.

The students of final year MCA, CS and IT got real-time hands-on over this biggest buzz of IT industry today. They are now quite clear in the field of Big-data and can pursue their career in the stream.
