Position: Overnight Logistics Dispatcher (12-Hour Shift | Piano Schedule)
Schedule: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM | Rotating Weekends Off (Piano Schedule)
Location: Irving, TX 75038
Industry: Temperature-Controlled Freight & Refrigerated Logistics

We are hiring for a critical overnight dispatching role with a leading logistics and supply chain provider specializing in temperature-sensitive freight . This role is essential in maintaining smooth after-hours operations and ensuring safety, compliance, and timely delivery across all active shipments.

Key Qualifications (Must Haves):

• Proven experience using AS/400 or similar transportation management systems

• Hands-on dispatching experience in the logistics or trucking industry

• Strong working knowledge of refrigerated trailers (reefers) and temperature-controlled freight

Night Shift Dispatch Responsibilities:

• Guide drivers to ensure on-time and safe freight deliveries

• Maintain real-time communication with drivers via phone and messaging platforms

• Use sound judgment to address or escalate service issues and safety concerns

• Deliver timely feedback to drivers regarding performance and route updates

• Document driver conduct and shift communications accurately

• Monitor all in-progress shipments and provide dispatch instructions as needed

Operational Tasks Include:

• Update system records for driver location and check-ins

• Electronically assign and dispatch trucks

• Provide verbal instructions on complex loads (e.g., multi-stop or sensitive freight)

• Monitor inbound messages and respond appropriately

• Take action on GPS delays, routing issues, or late load status

• Handle and document service exceptions and accessorial charges

• Maintain current records on driver availability and estimated times of arrival

• Monitor driver fueling compliance and issue new routing as needed

• Control fuel card access and update home time/shop statuses

• Support high-priority customer accounts with tracking and email communication

• Review active temperature-sensitive freight and coordinate responses as necessary

Reefer Monitoring Responsibilities:

• Analyze incoming refrigeration system alerts and notifications

• Take investigative action on all alerts, even recurring ones

• Escalate unresolved alerts to ensure freight integrity and compliance

• Failure to properly monitor this function may result in corrective action

Safety & Compliance Duties:

• Initiate reports for accidents or cargo claims (OS&D)

• Monitor facility access and gate activity during shift

• Report safety issues and escalate when appropriate

Shift Details:
This is a 12-hour overnight position operating on a "piano schedule" , meaning you will work every other weekend, offering better work-life balance.
