To develop applicability skills in the students was the main motive behind this activity. The activity was based on theory of transportation. Each group of student was given a business environment with production, warehousing, retailing facilities. There task was to match the capacities and requirement of the facilities/ customers in such a way so as to minimize the cost of operations. The MBA students have studied various transportation models in operations management and operations research subjects. They were supposed to draw upon their class room learning and apply it in this artificially created business environment.
The students were divided into about 10 teams of 6 members, each team had a different business scenario. The winner was decided on the basis of correctness of the solution and the time taken to develop the solution. Certificates were distributed to the winning team.
The activity was developed and executed by Kaizen faculty team- Prof Juhi Kamakoty, Prof Vikas Jain, Prof Naman Shrivastava, Prof Anand Bhatt. The student coordination team was headed by Ritesh Sharma (sem 4).
