Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Excavator Operator to join our team. The Excavator Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment to move earth, rock, or other materials on construction, utility, or excavation projects. This role requires precision, attention to safety, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a crew.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate excavators and related heavy equipment to perform excavation, trenching, grading, and site preparation.
Load and unload materials such as dirt, gravel, rock, or debris.
Read and interpret grade stakes, site plans, and blueprints to ensure accurate digging and placement.
Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and safety checks before and after operation.
Follow proper safety procedures and comply with OSHA, company, and job site regulations.
Work with site supervisors, crew members, and contractors to complete tasks according to project requirements.
Report equipment malfunctions or unsafe conditions immediately.
Assist in maintaining a clean and organized job site.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as an Excavator Operator or similar heavy equipment operator role.
Strong knowledge of excavation techniques, soil types, and equipment capabilities.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and grade stakes.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Strong commitment to safety.
Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods while operating machinery.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
Comfortable working in outdoor environments including heat, cold, mud, and uneven terrain.
