Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized
Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, ensuring accurate billing, and supporting the revenue cycle process. This role is essential for minimizing claim denials and optimizing reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities:
Verify insurance benefits and eligibility for patients through online portals, phone calls, or payer systems.
Accurately document coverage details including co-pays, deductibles, out-of-pocket limits, authorization requirements, and policy limitations.
Communicate with insurance companies to resolve issues related to coverage or authorizations.
Work closely with front desk staff, billing teams, and clinical personnel to ensure correct patient information and insurance details are captured.
Obtain prior authorizations or referrals when necessary.
Update patient records and verify demographic and insurance data in the system.
Identify and escalate any discrepancies or concerns that may impact billing or patient care.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree or certification in medical administration or billing preferred.
1+ years of experience in insurance verification, medical billing, or related healthcare administrative role.
Strong knowledge of insurance carriers, medical terminology, and HIPAA compliance.
Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) and insurance portals.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
Work Environment:
Office, remote, or clinical setting depending on assignment.
Standard business hours with potential for extended hours based on workload.
